Beautiful

Create in me a clean heart and keep renewing me with a willing, right spirit! every day! every morning new mercy or lovingkindness; every day new, all-sufficient grace and glory! We were totally humbled when we woke up one day and realized our life had been conformed to the world–con formed–but we were even MORE humbled […]

Cross Roads

With the recent tragedies going on around the United States and also around the World, It seems like violence is ever increasing. When is the end? Is it near? It feels like it is, and it is worrisome. Yet Jesus tells us to worry not, but to trust in the perfect Love of God. Violence is everywhere, and recently it seems worse than it has been in the past. Yet is the media making it worse? That would be a good excuse, especially an excuse to continue carrying on acting as if everything were perfectly fine, in our naive perfect worlds.

What is it like on the other side of the world, in a small dessert town, being a Christian family surrounded by terrorism? Do they wake up wondering if each day is their last? In constant fear they must be, and drinking water is probably a blessing to them.

As I have these thoughts, I sit here surrounded in my own little fortress of an apartment full of stuff that many in the world would Love to have. Yet deep within my mind, I forget or don’t even realize that, without God it is all junk. Even with God every earthly possession I cling to and have around me is junk, as all off these things are perishable just as I am or would be if God wouldn’t have opened my eyes to His Grace.

For years I have been controlled by debt. Constantly working and then working to pay bills and stuck to these possessions. Recently as I was sitting in my apartment, approaching 32 and alone, I started to realize that all of these things I own are meaningless without anyone to share them with. What is the purpose of all this stuff I thought? I worked for months making my apartment the perfect sanctuary for myself, only to come to the realization that all of this stuff is useless as it is just me and these belongings.

An opportunity recently arouse I’ve decided I am going to embrace. I am breaking my lease and selling almost everything I own. Human beings are meant to be in community and not hidden away or tucked away in our own little perfect bubble. Living alone for several years has truly been a struggle and a blessing. I have seen that the human heart almost feels a sense of suffering without someone near. To be close to people is what we are meant for, Just as God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit have always been in a community, we as Christians were made in their image.

As Jesus calls me to flee from the things of this earth that are keeping me in bondage, I will flee as fast as I can. I want to step out into the world around me and be closer to others I can Love, not stuck behind a closed door Loving myself.

While full fledged terrorism has not yet reached this side of the world and I do not have to fear waking up each morning and stepping outside of my front door. It is now time I make the most of this blessing and use what precious moments I have left on the face of this earth, to show those around me and maybe those on the other side of the ocean one day, the Love that Jesus Christ has for us all.

As King Solomon had gained more than enough under the heavens, In the end He realized all of His possessions were worthless without the Joy and Peace of God at the center of His heart.
Ecclesiastes 2:11

when I surveyed all that my hands had done

    and what I had toiled to achieve,

everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind;

    nothing was gained under the sun.

I feel that ridding oneself of all of the things that are holding us back from a true and fulfilling relationship with Jesus, can be an entryway to enter a true and meaningful Life that has already been drawn out for us by our Loving God.

And whether it is internal junk or material junk that you need to rid of, or both, trust in Jesus and He will show you what opportunities await when you step away from whatever it is holding you back. More Joy is gained investing your heart and time in Loving others than in junk that cannot Love you back. The Love of God is also made perfect in our weakness, therefore embrace vulnerability.

Matthew 6:19-21
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
